VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

SAN DIEGO (Jan 13)

San Diegans are invited to the San Diego Walk For Life with a special plea that we should be a “Witness for Life!”  We Brother Knights should be the defenders of life in our parishes and our communities.  Our united presence at the San Diego Walk for Life will truly show that we are Witnesses for Life on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

Each Council is asked to set up information tables outside their church with flyers and sign-up pages to encourage maximum participation of KofC families and all others at the Walk for Life.  You may choose to set up carpools from the church to the event site:

San Diego Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego.

Parishioners who sign up are more committed to attend and help us to be a massive Witness for Life.  Imagine what it would look like to have 5,000 to 10,000 people filling Waterfront Park!  The media and our fellow San Diegans would surely notice.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has been considering donating $500,000 to support Planned Parenthood and to attack our local Pregnancy Resource Centers.  A huge crowd at the San Diego Walk for Life would send the supervisors a message that the people do NOT want to support Planned Parenthood and DO SUPPORT pregnancy resource centers.  Please help us to make this statement clear that San Diego is a Pro Life county.

LOS ANGELES (Jan 20)

The OneLife Los Angeles Walk for Life is fast approaching on January 20, 2024 and we again need your help!  We are once again calling for Brother Knights to help with the various activities to help guide the Walk on the day of the Walk.  Your support is crucial to another successful year!

Please look over the material below and share it with all of your council members:

1. OneLife LA 2024 Information document

2. The Assignments map

3. An Excel spreadsheet to use to pre-register your council’s volunteers

Please note that the Knights – Marshall T-shirts will be in short supply this year due to budgetary constraints with some sizes limited. Life Matters T-shirts may also be available in some sizes until they are also gone. Therefore, we are asking all brother Knights who have a previous year’s Knights – Marshal Life Walk T-shirt to wear it as we have been using the same shirt since 2021. We will be handing out free T-shirts to those that need them while supplies last. To be on the safe side, in order to identify yourself as a Knight if we run out of your size, please encourage your council members to wear a council shirt as a backup.

Please note the times and various tasks that we’ll need to support this Life Activity in the Los Angeles Archdiocese. If there are any questions, see the contact information in the Information document and emphasize that check-in will be much smoother if the Pre-Registration sheet is filled out in advance and sent back in by the deadline.

KofC Peace Keepers: We need Peace Keepers at the Civic Center starting at 10:00am. We should finish the walk around 3:30-4:00pm. This is not a security guard type activity, anyone can participate. Please invite potential members, parishioners and their family. We are not allowed to carry weapons. If someone is retired law enforcement or a detective we can have you with the VIP protection unit.

If you can attend as a Peace Keeper please confirm with me, or Brother Charles Ramsden.  We need all of the help we can get.
